Why Starbold
The Starbold site has been chosen after an extensive site searching exercise which considers a number of criteria to identify whether an area is potentially suitable for a windfarm or not. These criteria include:
- Technical/commercial considerations such as wind speeds;
- Initial planning and environmental considerations including landscape designations, proximity to dwellings and land use;
- Proximity to grid infrastructure;
- Site access; and
- Land ownership.
If, after an initial review, the above criteria are met, further detailed assessments are then undertaken to confirm the sites suitability for a windfarm. Starbold has been chosen as it has a viable wind speed, does not lie within any landscape or nature conservation designations, is close to a grid connection, has good access and importantly has willing land owners.
